HWEnergy installs biomass heating system at the West Highland Hotel, Mallaig
The 40-bedroom West Highland Hotel is set on an elevated position overlooking the Sound of Sleat in the scenic port town of Mallaig. Since owners Gavin and Sine Davis purchased the hotel, substantial investments have been made upgrading rooms, bathrooms, boilers, windows and equipment over the past six years.
The £271,600 upgrade of the hotel has included a new conservatory/dining area, disabled access, and a ground floor guest room with private terrace. HWEnergy were commissioned to replace the outdated and inefficient fossil fuel boilers and designed and installed a 250kW biomass system running on local, sustainably produced wood chip. Now up and running, the system is set to deliver significant financial benefits and CO2 savings for the hotel.
HWEnergy now operate the full biomass system under a ‘Heat Supply‘ contract including all fuel and servicing with inbuilt performance guarantees minimising both risk and operational input for the hotel team.
