Reducing Carbon, Reducing Costs: Supporting Economic Growth

A well implemented biomass project can square the circle of delivering both carbon savings and ongoing financial savings. It will also have the added benefits of utilising a resource that is abundant across Scotland and increasing our security of energy supply. The uptake of biomass in the public and community sectors is identified in Scotland’s Renewable Heat Action Plan as being of prime importance in delivering our renewable energy targets by 2020.

Biomass systems can be a "low maintenance" and "low risk" option.

We are seeing an increasing desire within the public and community sector to minimise the involvement of in-house staff in the operation of a biomass system and an increasing focus on simply paying for the heat that the boilers produce.  In response to this we have developed a service which provides guaranteed renewable heat

However, there are a range of options for how a system can be procured and operated to ensure that it delivers the anticipated benefits.  For anyone new to biomass or looking for some advice on where to start we have developed a guide that is specific to the public and community sector.
