Fuel Storage & Delivery

There are a number of options for storing and delivering wood fuel.  The key elements for success in this area are:

- Keep it simple.

- Use a solution that fits the needs of the project and the available delivery vehicle.

- Bear in mind that this solution is going to be in place for the next 15 - 30 years so spend time getting it right now.

- Match the size of the fuel store to the filling method and the heat demand.

The illustrations below outline some commonly used approaches.  If none of these solutions are immediately applicable then a bespoke and site specific solution can usually be found utilising blowers or conveyors.  However, in general terms the more straightforward the approach to storing and delivering fuel the better!

In relation to fuel storage and delivery, the solution for a farm and estate is likely to be very different to that deployed in a school, supermarket or hospital and more tailored information can be found in our guide section for each sector.  We can advise on the likely expense associated with each solution, the different fuel costs that each will drive and the frequency of delivery / loading required for a specific project.
