White Papers
This section of the website will expand to contain a range of documents which address a combination of:
- The key policy issues of the day
- Areas we are asked questions about which we think deserve some critical analysis
- Particular technical issues that come to the fore as the industry becomes more mainstream across the UK.
Policy Development
During summer 2010 the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is the key area under consideration across the sector. Consultation closed on 26th April 2010 and the following document was our response to the proposal presented. HWE RHI Response 2010.
Scottish Government Biomass Event
The Scottish Government is committed to developing the renewable heat market in Scotland and recognise that biomass will play an important role in that. The Government therefore organised a biomass stakeholder event on the 8th July. The event aimed to bring together as many key individuals as possible who have an interest in the area to discuss the events and issues which will help to grow and shape the industry over the coming months and years. In particular, it aimed to debate and get consensus on issues arising from the potential increase in the number of large scale biomass electric and CHP plants, including impacts on supply and the ability to meet the renewable heat target. Following presentations by Jim Mather, the Minister for Energy and Stuart Goodall from CONFOR, Stuart Reid from HWE was tasked with stimulating the debate from the heat sector perspective.
